Ifyou are nominated for student council, you have the weekend to make one poster for the hallway. No buttons, bookmarks, or extra items to hand out are needed. You will need to give a speech to the fifth grade next Friday before voting.
Spelling lists will not be printed for your child. You may get the list at any time on the Spelling Folder below.

Thank you so much for the supplies you have been sending in! I am so appreciative. We are already using them in the classroom.
Please make plans for the following field trips: a disposible lunch will be needed for our Enterprise City trip and both retreat days. Friday, November 12 is our Enterprise City field trip. Wednesday, January 26 and Thursday, January 27 is our Briarwood Retreat field trip. Wednesday will be our long day-8 am to 7:30 pm. Dinner will be provided on Jan. 26.
 Our picture day is October 27.
Please remember: If your child is sick, do not send them to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours and have not thrown up for 24 hours.
When you return to school, please ask each teacher what was missed when you were out. Get your planner filled out from those absent days from a reliable friend. Turn in your work promptly to the teacher that assigned the paper. ( If you were out one day, you have one day to get the work completed, if you were out four days, you have four days to complete the work.)
**If you would like to volunteer to go with us on our trip to Enterprise City and Briarwood Retreat, do a background check now. It takes about a month to complete and our first trip is coming up in November. If you do not complete a background check, we cannot keep your name on our voluteer list. **
 Save as many box tops as you can and bring them to school. Call all your relatives and see if they could keep them for you too. It really is a great way to raise money for our school.
 Please make sure to make the online grade book becomes your best friend. You can change the preferences to have the grade book system email you with information about your child's grades: if the grade gets below a certain percentage, if they failed an assignment, etc. If you haven't checked out the preference tab, please do. If you need some help, email me.
 The following items are needed in our classroom: colored notebook paper (at Office Max across the street from the mall), double-sided tape, colored staples, Expo Markers~colored, colored sharpie markers, pencils, crayola markers.

Our specials time is 8:05-8:50AM, lunch time is 12:30-1PM, and recess is 1-1:30PM.
Your child may stay after school any day for finishing class work or getting some extra help. They will need to leave by 3:45.
The best way to study for a social studies test: 1. reread the chapter. 2. go over the reading notes so you know them. 3. study the tutorial on-line. (and pay attention in class  ) The History Alive tutorial is located in the social studies section of the cool web sites. It is highlighted in bright green. Your child can do the quiz as many times as they choose.
FYI: Failing grades that can be brought up to a 70% are tests. Daily grades are not able to bring up. You may redo the daily paper to get understanding, but not to raise the grade.
Planner and Conduct Cards: We have had problems in previous years with forging the initials of the parent on the planner or conduct card. Therefore, the fifth grade teachers require a full signature on both items. Thanks for your cooperation.
Background Checks: If you are going to volunteer for anything here at school, you must do a background check through the district first, even if you did one before. The system has been updated and you will need to redo the background check.

Please check your child's planner daily to know what is for homework, tests or upcoming due dates. If your child did not finish the daily assignment, it is homework and due by 8:00 the next day turned into the correct teacher. * If you are absent, please contact each teacher for what was missed while you were gone, along with getting the planner information from a friend at your table.
